Lettuce is our Winter specialty. The main line is the Iceberg or Crisp type. Many people comment that our lettuce has a somewhat sweet taste without the bitter taste that you often get in lettuce.
COS Lettuce
Harvest Period --- April to End November
COS is the other main lettuce type grown. Featured here on the left is our favourite variety bred locally and not available commercially. It has an open hearted frame with great density and weight and very crispy. Featured on the right is our Mini Cos variety which is probably one of the prettiest lettuce types I've seen.
English Spinach
Harvest Period --- March to October
Spinach is one of my favourite vegetables. Great on it's own
or I add it to just about anything.
Fancy Lettuce
We have grown a range of fancy
lettuce types but currently these are only small lines and not always available. Featured here are Butterhead which is yellow/green has a smooth silky
texture, Brown Mignonette which is similar but in a red/brown colour and Green and Red Oakleaf named for the shape of the leaves. Endive is also
featured here and is not actually a lettuce and is often cooked.
